An educational opportunity is available for a skilled Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) to support K-12 students within a school setting in Renton, WA. This contracted role spans the current school year (CSY) and is integral in fostering student independence and accessibility through specialized mobility training.

Key Responsibilities: Assess and develop individualized orientation and mobility plans tailored to students unique visual impairments. Teach safe and effective travel techniques using adaptive tools such as canes and technology. Collaborate with educators, families, and related service providers to integrate mobility goals into the students educational program. Provide training and guidance to school staff to enhance understanding and support of students mobility needs. Monitor student progress and adjust strategies to ensure maximal independence. Qualifications and Desired Experience: Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist or equivalent credentials. Experience working with children and adolescents in educational settings. Strong knowledge of visual impairment and mobility techniques. Ability to communicate effectively with students, families, and school teams. Familiarity with assistive technology and transportation options for visually impaired individuals. Location: Renton, Washington This contract position is designed to support students throughout the current school year with potential to impact their learning and daily navigation significantly.
