A school-based Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) position is available for two skilled professionals to support K-12 students in Newport News, VA. This opportunity is a contract role with a duration aligned to the school year, providing the chance to work within an educational setting that fosters student development and success.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with occupational therapists to implement individualized therapy programs tailored to student needs.
Assist in assessing students functional abilities and progress throughout the school year.
Support students in developing fine motor skills, sensory processing, and daily living activities.
Document therapy sessions and communicate effectively with educators, parents, and multidisciplinary teams.
Adapt therapeutic activities to accommodate diverse learning environments and student requirements.
Qualifications:
Current Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license or certification.
Experience working with pediatric populations, preferably in school-based settings.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with educators, therapists, and families.
Knowledge of educational mandates related to special education and therapy services.
