Our client, a well-established and highly respected defense law firm, is seeking an experienced
Legal Secretary
to join their San Diego team. In this role, you'll provide critical administrative and litigation support to attorneys, helping manage complex caseloads, coordinate discovery and trial preparation, and ensure that deadlines and court requirements are met with accuracy and efficiency.

What You Will Do Manage attorney calendars, deadlines, and tickler systems to ensure timely filings and compliance with court schedules. Coordinate meetings, depositions, and court appearances with clients, experts, co-counsel, and opposing counsel. Draft, proofread, and prepare legal documents including pleadings, discovery, pre-trial, and trial filings. Organize, maintain, and update confidential electronic case files with detailed documentation of activity. Handle discovery coordination, including scheduling and calendaring for both plaintiff and defense actions. Transcribe dictation and prepare correspondence, memos, and litigation documents. Communicate directly with clients to gather information and follow up on attorney requests. Provide backup support to other secretaries and assist with general office administration, including mail, supplies, IT troubleshooting, and facilities coordination. Stay up to date on California court rules and procedures. What You Bring
Minimum of
7 years of defense trial litigation experience
in a comparable setting. At least
3 years of recent California Civil litigation experience. Hands-on
trial preparation experience
with a deep understanding of discovery and court processes. Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Proficiency in
MS Word, case management software,
and typing speed of 70+ WPM. High school diploma or GED required. Compensation and Benefits
Salary range:
