This role focuses on students aged 5-22 who have behavioral needs, providing specialized instruction in classrooms with up to 15 students and typically two behavior managers per room. The position is located in East Hartford, CT, within a K-12 school setting.

Key Responsibilities: Deliver tailored special education instruction to meet the individual needs of students across K-12, emphasizing high school populations. Collaborate with behavior managers to implement behavioral support plans and maintain classroom structure. Develop and adapt Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with student goals and regulatory requirements. Monitor and record student progress, communicating regularly with parents, staff, and administration. Foster a supportive learning environment that accommodates diverse learning styles and behavioral challenges. Qualifications and Experience: Certification as a Special Education Teacher (No emergency certifications accepted). Experience working with students with behavioral needs, preferably across the 5-22 age range. Ability to manage classrooms of up to 15 students with support from behavior managers. Strong collaborative skills to work effectively with behavior staff and multidisciplinary teams. Commitment to student-centered education and individualized support. Schedule and Location: Full-time contract position for the 2025-2026 school year. Work hours: 7:00 AM to 2:10 PM. Located in East Hartford, Connecticut. Interview availability is mornings through 1:00 PM.
