Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students who are deaf or hard of hearing Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs Utilize assistive technology and communication methods such as sign language to facilitate learning Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including speech therapists, audiologists, and parents Monitor and assess student progress, maintaining accurate records and reporting to stakeholders Create an inclusive, supportive learning environment that enhances student engagement and confidence Preferred Qualifications: Valid teaching credential with a specialization in Deaf Education or related field Experience working with K-12 students who are deaf or hard of hearing Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other relevant communication techniques Strong classroom management skills and ability to differentiate instruction Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities for effective collaboration with staff and families Location: Oakland, California This contract position spans the current school year, allowing for focused impact on student achievement within a structured academic calendar.
