Position Summary: The Human Resources Manager will oversee HR operations at the Distribution Center, supporting a positive workplace environment, ensuring legal compliance, and guiding both employee and management development through partnership with DC leadership. This role is a champion for enhancing culture and leading change management initiatives with proven methods and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all HR functions for the distribution center including but not limited to employee relations, investigations, and resolutions with discretion.
  • Support an environment of 150+ employees (plus temporary staff) of hourly and salaried staff.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for managers; coordinate training to enhance employee skills and safety awareness.
  • Partner with DC leadership to address HR strategies aligned with company goals, workforce planning, and staffing needs.
  • Oversee administration of policies, procedures, and practices to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws (including NYS employment law).
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and orientation processes for DC staff.
  • Maintain accurate HR records, documentation, and HRIS data for all DC staff.
  • Administer leave programs (FMLA, NYS PFL, ADA accommodations) and coordinate return-to-work plans.
  • Partner with safety and operations teams on workplace safety initiatives, including OSHA compliance and workers compensation reporting.
  • Perform job analysis to enhance or revise job descriptions as needed.
  • Support managers with performance evaluation processes and talent development.
  • Monitor HR metrics to analyze turnover, absenteeism, and engagement; inform proactive strategies and provide reports to DC leadership.
  • Lead employee engagement and recognition programs to foster a positive culture.
  • Support payroll and benefits administration as needed for DC staff.

Qualifications

  • Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration or related field is preferred; HR Certification (SHRM-CP, PHR) is a plus.
    • Three plus years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2 years in an HR Management, Sr. Generalist or Generalist role.
    • Strong working knowledge of federal and NYS employment laws and HR best practices.
    • Proven ability to coach and train managers on employee development and compliance.
    • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills; ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced DC environment.
    • Experience with safety committees, safety programs, and workers compensation management.
    • Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Experience in distribution, manufacturing, or similar operations preferred.
  • Special Requirements: Occasional weekend work as required to meet business needs.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong organizational, confidentiality, conflict resolution, negotiation, analytical, and cross-functional collaboration skills; ability to influence and build trust; proficiency in HR technology and reporting tools.
