Overview

The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) represents the face of the company to patients who come in for routine health visits or life-defining health decisions. The PSR I greets patients, answers questions with care and compassion, helps maintain the waiting area, and may assist with breaks when other phlebotomists are unavailable. This entry-level role includes training on phlebotomy skills to grow within the company. The PSR I communicates what patients can expect regarding scheduled procedures in a safe, accurate, and confidential manner and helps create an atmosphere of trust and confidence.

Under the direction of the area supervisor, the PSR I performs daily activities accurately and on time, maintains a safe and professional environment, and keeps required records and documentation. The role supports a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public and demonstrates a willingness to learn new skills.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients upon arrival and assist with check-in via self-service kiosk or handheld tablet
  • Answer questions and address concerns with care and compassion
  • Maintain the integrity and cleanliness of the waiting area
  • Assist with breaks when other phlebotomists are unavailable
  • Be trained in phlebotomy and, when trained, perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties per established procedures
  • Explain procedures to patients and ensure accurate, confidential handling of patient information
  • Uphold a high standard of customer service and professionalism
  • Maintain required records and documentation; follow safety and confidentiality policies

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent ( REQUIRED )
  • Minimum 1-2 years of client-facing customer service experience (Retail, Home Health Aide, etc.); prior phlebotomy experience is NOT required
  • Keyboard/data entry experience is required
  • Ability to handle patients with care and compassion; willingness to learn phlebotomy skills when downtime or breaks permit
  • High level of customer service skills is essential

Phlebotomy Training

This is an entry position into phlebotomy. Candidates must be willing to learn phlebotomy; those seeking only a front-desk or greeter role and not willing to learn phlebotomy should not apply.
