Overview

Job Title: IT Hardware Field Technician

Location: Must be based in Chicago, IL (flying out of ORD and MDW)

Schedule: Monday-Friday, On Call Rotation, OT Eligible

Travel: 80% of the time each month (majority of the time is day trips; sporadic week-long projects)

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain and troubleshoot a variety of hardware and software equipment within the airport terminal. Communicate effectively with front-line employees and customers.
  • Implement and support desktop and mobile devices, applications, peripherals, network devices, airline-specific equipment (Kiosk, Flight Information Display Systems), public address systems, and time clock equipment
  • Provide a broad scope of operational support and IMAC (Install, Move, Add, Change) requests supporting the IT infrastructure in office environments, CS&S Centers, and airport locations
  • Perform preventative maintenance on operational equipment
  • Configure, install, customize, maintain, test, and troubleshoot hardware systems with minimal direction
  • Provide bench repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, and configuration of IT equipment
  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal customers
  • Provide packaging, unpacking, documentation, shipment, and receipt of equipment as needed for support of the enterprise
  • Create status reports for Leadership on field installations

Required Skills & Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience as a Hardware Field Technician
  • Knowledge of cabling infrastructure and its topologies
  • Knowledge of low voltage cabling
  • Ability to troubleshoot and operate within Windows environments
  • Ability to navigate Active Directory (e.g., moving workstation objects)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, ServiceNow Service Desk, and Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)
  • Knowledge of basic network troubleshooting
  • Ability to assign applications and identify application sources in SCCM
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities
  • Strong customer service skills
