Overview
Position Summary: The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the accounting department. This role leads key financial processes including month-end close, regulatory reporting, and financial statement preparation, while ensuring compliance with GAAP, federal and state regulations, and internal policies. The position requires strong leadership, technical accounting expertise, and the ability to drive continuous improvement across systems and processes.
Base pay range
$130,000.00/yr - $140,000.00/yr
Responsibilities
- The Accounting Manager will lead month-end close, including journal entries, fixed assets, and variance analysis.
- Manage accounting for investments and derivatives.
- Oversee accounts payable, ensuring vendor compliance and internal controls.
- Prepare financial statements, budget variance reports, and regulatory filings (e.g., Call Report, FR 2900, Census Surveys).
- The Accounting Manager will supervise and mentor accounting staff; foster professional development.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Support and lead budget planning and review processes.
- Develop and implement accounting policies and internal controls in compliance with GAAP and regulations.
- Research and implement new accounting standards.
- The Accounting Manager will provide financial analysis to support leadership decision-making.
- Collaborate across departments with accurate data and reporting.
- Support financial operations for the Credit Union’s foundation.
- Identify and implement process improvements using financial systems and tools.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable financial regulations (GAAP, BSA, OFAC, FACTA).
- The Accounting Manager will assist auditors and examiners with required data and explanations.
- Deliver high-quality service to internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
- The Accounting Manager must hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- Must hold a CPA to be considered.
- Must have 7+ years of accounting experience from a banking/ credit/ Finance sector.
- Must have 2+ years in a leadership role.
- The Accounting Manager must be proficient in GAAP, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
- Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office; experience with Symitar, ProfitStar, Sage Fixed Assets, and Concur preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines independently.
- Must be local to Colorado
