A fast-growing independent third-party administrator in the employee benefits sector seeks an accomplished Accounting Manager. The organization delivers consumer-directed healthcare account solutions and serves brokers, employers, and individuals across the United States. As an accounting leader, you will own daily financial operations, compliance, audit coordination, team management, and the integrity of all internal/external reporting.
Key Duties
- Direct all day-to-day accounting functions: AP, AR, payroll, treasury, and GL activities
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of 13+ professionals (internal and external) over both operations and corporate finance
- Oversee month- and year-end close and prepare consolidated financial statements across multiple entities
- Lead trust account reporting relevant to HSAs, FSAs, HRAs, COBRA, and monitor compliance with all applicable laws and standards (GAAP, IRS, DoL)
- Drive process improvements, including reporting accuracy and cross-system (ERP/proprietary) integration
- Collaborate closely with IT to enhance financial data flows between the main ERP (Microsoft Business Central) and a proprietary Oracle-based platform
- Prepare board-level financial reporting, deliver results to executive leadership, and support internal/external audits
- Manage cash flow forecasting, banking relationships, and working capital optimization
- Foster a culture of mentorship, accountability, and results
- Navigate and lead change management and upskilling within the accounting team
Required Background
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or equivalent (CPA a plus)
- 5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including team supervision
- Full-cycle accounting and compliance experience in a complex, multi-entity environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Business Central; exposure to custom financial systems (preferably Oracle-based)
- Advanced Excel and strong analytical/reporting skills
- Proven leadership, mentoring, and communication skills
- Experience in the benefits administration, insurance, or trust accounting sectors is highly desirable
