Overview

CAROLINA PRG is partnering with a growing construction company seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Manager. This role is ideal for someone experienced in overseeing accounting operations in contracting environments, including month-end close, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and team management.

Base pay range

$80,000.00/yr - $90,000.00/yr

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounts payable, including vendor invoices, subcontractor payments, and employee reimbursements.
• Manage accounts receivable, including client invoicing, tracking payments, and resolving discrepancies.
• Lead month-end close activities: journal entries, reconciliations, and account analysis.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, bank accounts, and credit cards.
• Track project costs (labor, materials, subcontractors) and ensure accurate job costing.
• Prepare management reporting: cash flow, budget vs. actual, and project profitability.
• Collaborate with project managers to review invoices, change orders, and project-related transactions.
• Maintain organized accounting records and documentation.
• Assist with year-end audits and tax preparation.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
• Manage and mentor accounting staff.
• Support payroll processing and related reporting.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Bachelor’s preferred.
• 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally in construction or contracting, with supervisory or team leadership experience.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks, Sage, or similar accounting software; strong Excel skills.
• Knowledge of construction accounting and job costing preferred.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
• Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with project managers, vendors, and leadership.
