Overview

Litigation Legal Assistant — Location: San Diego, CA. Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM. Work Model: On-site (hybrid eligible after training – 1 remote day/week). Compensation: $98,000 – $112,000 DOE.

This role supports a team of three partners at a prominent San Diego-based litigation practice.

About the Role

A prominent San Diego-based litigation practice is seeking a Litigation Legal Assistant to support a team of three partners, including the Managing Partner. This is a high-visibility role ideal for someone proactive, organized, and experienced in fast-paced legal environments. You’ll join a supportive team with overflow assistance to ensure a manageable workload.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive case management and legal administrative support to three partners.
  • Prepare, file, and manage state and federal court filings, including pleadings, e-filings, TOCs/TOAs, and discovery documents.
  • Maintain and update legal calendars, including deadlines, hearings, and trial schedules.
  • Draft, format, and proofread legal correspondence and documents; handle redlines and revisions with precision.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and vendors.
  • Assist with deposition prep, discovery coordination, and trial support activities.
  • Manage documents using legal document management systems (iManage or equivalent).
  • Provide general administrative overflow assistance as needed.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of litigation legal assistant experience in a law firm setting.
  • Business litigation experience required; healthcare litigation experience is a plus.
  • Thorough understanding of state and federal court rules, including e-filing procedures.
  • High level of attention to detail, with excellent organization and multitasking skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to interact professionally with clients and legal teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word (2010 or later), Outlook, Adobe Pro.
  • Experience with tools such as iManage, Best Authority, CompuLaw, Comparite, or CCC Macros is a plus.
