Overview
Dental Office Assistant role at Heartland Dental – Front Desk Dental Assistant, Brooksville, FL. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 7:30am–5pm. No weekends.
Responsibilities
- Greet and welcome patients as they enter the office to create a positive first impression
- Manage front office duties, including answering phones, checking mail/email, and communicating with patients and insurance companies
- Utilize Dentrix for patient scheduling and records
- Schedule and confirm appointments for multiple providers
- File patient insurance claims and follow up on outstanding claims, verification of benefits, and explanation of coverage
- Post insurance and patient payments and process accounts receivable
- Review treatment plan fees and payment options with patients
- Partner with providers and the team to implement Heartland Dental systems to optimize office potential

Minimum Qualifications
- Experience working in a fast-paced and customer-centric environment
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Access to minimum PHI for job-related functions; regular HIPAA training will be required; protect PHI and maintain data safeguards
Preferred Experience
- 1+ years of experience in a dental or medical setting
- 1+ years of experience with insurance billing and accounts receivable
- Dentrix or other dental software experience
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation; reasonable accommodations may be made
- Prolonged sitting at a desk and computer use
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds
- Availability to attend virtual or in-person training sessions periodically
- TB test is required for new hires in dental offices (not applicable in FL & TN for this posting); pre-employment coordination will be provided
