Position Summary
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as Office Assistant - Bellport. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing basic front-desk support for clinical intake operations. May be responsible for pre-authorizations and certifications with the exception of surgical procedures.
Job Responsibilities
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Provides reception assistance (greet patients, answer calls, direct inquiries to the proper person, schedule routine appointments and follow-ups that do not require or have already been pre-authorized, and refer inquiries regarding pre-authorizations/certifications to the appropriate person). Responsible for collecting and completing patient-related documents. Assist patient in enrolling in Patient Secure if necessary. Confirm daily patient appointments and maintain a continuous scheduling system.
- Responsible for patient check-in and check-out. Gather demographic data, obtain insurance information, verify eligibility, take a photo, and encourage use of Patient Secure. Verify and edit demographic information on subsequent visits. Collect and have patients sign HIPAA, MSPQ, ABN, and other patient-related documents. Follow up to gather missing data or refer to senior staff as needed.
- Collect co-pays and other balances. Scan documents into the intake system. Monitor intake work queue for timely completion.
- May be responsible for pre-authorizations and certifications (except surgical procedures). Ensure appropriate procedure and diagnosis coding in pre-certification and verification; question physicians as needed for accuracy.
- Assist patients with questions about insurance coverage and refer to the appropriate business office for financial counseling when criteria are met.
- Maintain professional relationships with physicians, nurses, and office/clinical staff. Type routine materials neatly and accurately.
- Answer patient questions to ensure understanding and satisfaction; maintain confidentiality.
- Maintain and organize area files and supplies; process documents and routing; ensure signatures and proper destinations; notify supervisor of shortages.
- May assist, provide guidance and/or train staff with completing intake-related duties.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills; strong customer service; ability to multitask and work in a team environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, databases, and internet applications. Light, accurate keyboarding skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Six months physician practice office experience. Knowledge of medical terminology and EPIC Ambulatory.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Salary range: $54,164.99 - $54,165.00 annually. Actual salaries depend on experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. This range does not include bonuses, incentives, or other compensation.
