This is a part time role working 3 days per week with travel to Scarborough.

About Progress Careers: Progress Careers is part of The Progress Group, a union of six business units that aims to innovate, influence, and inspire through education and training.
Purpose
To provide professional career guidance services, including personal guidance interviews, to improve young people’s skills, knowledge, and understanding of career planning and management.
Main Duties
- Personal Career Guidance: Conduct client-focused, impartial, personal career guidance interviews (1:1 and group sessions) to help clients make informed, realistic career decisions. Encourage self and opportunity awareness, raise aspirations, motivate, and foster ongoing career conversations. Maintain client records electronically and create/distribute a summary of guidance.
- Careers Information: Use knowledge of careers information and labour market information to help students/clients identify, access, interpret, and utilise current information, including IT tools (e.g., social media, web sources). Organise careers fairs and related activities with the Careers Leader.
- Career Guidance Programmes: Advise the Careers Leader on resources and the role of providers in developing and delivering the career guidance programme, achieving Gatsby Benchmarks and, where appropriate, Quality in Careers Standards Award. Facilitate group-based career-related learning activities. Support monitoring and destinations for school leavers with timely data to the operational team.
- Partnerships and Networking: Refer to specialist services as needed, communicate with external agencies, involve parents where relevant, and attend parents’ evenings as required.
- Professionalism: Adhere to legislation and codes of practice (e.g., CDI Code of Ethics), safeguarding, equality and diversity, and ongoing professional development.

Person Specification
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for careers guidance, experience in an information, advice and guidance setting (ideally with young people), and the ability to work in multiple educational settings.
Essential
- Qualification in careers guidance (level 6 or above) or working towards Level 6.
- Experience in an IAG setting.
- IT literacy (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability with other platforms.
- Ability to work to tight timelines and produce high-quality work under pressure.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple work streams with limited supervision.
- Confident across multiple educational settings.
- Confident presenting to large groups.
- Proactive, innovative, forward-thinking, and able to anticipate and address issues.
- Numerate with attention to detail and high standards for own work.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build strong relationships with senior school staff.
- Keen to learn and develop new skills; collaborative team player aligned to our mission.
- Awareness of GDPR and professional conduct; ability to represent Progress Careers professionally at events.
Desirable
- Ability to work flexibly, including occasional evening duties.
- Experience creating learning resources and lesson planning.
- Existing CDI Professional Register status.
- Strong networks within the relevant geographical area.
