About Us
Progress Careers is part of The Progress Group, comprised of six business units focused on high-quality, purposeful education and training.
Purpose
To provide professional career guidance services, including personal guidance interviews, to improve young people’s skills, knowledge and understanding of career planning and management.
Main Duties
- Personal Career Guidance: conduct client-facing, impartial, personal career guidance interviews (1:1 and group sessions) to support informed, realistic career decisions; encourage self and opportunity awareness, raise aspirations, motivate and generate ongoing career conversations; maintain client records electronically and provide a summary of guidance.
- Careers Information: use expert knowledge of careers information and labour market information to help students/clients identify, access, interpret and utilise current information; organise careers fairs and activities with the Careers Leader.
- Career Guidance Programmes: advise the Careers Leader on resources, providers, and delivery of the career guidance programme to achieve Gatsby Benchmarks and related standards; facilitate career-related learning in groups and monitor destinations with timely data to the operations team.
- Partnerships and Networking: refer to specialist services as needed (e.g., SEND); liaise with external agencies and networks; involve parents/carers as appropriate and attend parents’ evenings.
- Professionalism: adhere to legislation and codes of practice (e.g., CDI Code of Ethics); safeguard young people; promote equality and diversity; reflect on practice and engage in CPD to stay current.
Person Specification
The ideal candidate is passionate about careers guidance, enthusiastic, and experienced in an information, advice and guidance setting, ideally with young people.
Essential
- Qualification in careers guidance (level 6 or above) or working towards L6
- Experience in an IAG setting
- IT literacy (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other platforms
- Ability to work to tight timelines and produce high-quality work under pressure
- Strong organisational skills and multi-tasking ability
- Confident across multiple educational settings
- Confident presenting to large groups
- Proactive, innovative, and able to anticipate and resolve issues
- Numerate with attention to detail and high standards
- Good written and verbal communication
- Ability to build strong relationships with senior school staff
- Desire to learn and develop new skills
- Collaborative team player committed to the company mission
- Awareness and compliance with GDPR
- Professional representation of Progress Careers at events
Desirable
- Flexibility for occasional evening work
- Experience creating learning resources and lesson planning
- Existing CDI Professional Register
- Strong networks within the relevant geographical area
