Job Description Summary

Responsible for administration of employee benefits and extended leaves requests. Serves as contact and knowledgeable resource for employees regarding these activities and provides accurate, courteous, efficient, and timely service. Works effectively with coworkers, and third-party administrators on a regular basis to ensure compliance with legal requirements, plan provisions, and College policies and procedures. Maintains the highest ethical standards, including confidentiality of employee and student records.

Start date: As soon as possible

Duties

1. Administers benefits plans, implements changes to existing plans, and facilitates the transition to new plans, as approved.

2. Manages the annual enrollment process for the state health plan and supplemental benefits plans.

3. Communicates with employees regarding new hire benefits offerings, benefits options at separation from employment, and the retirement separation process and paperwork, and follows applicable procedures for implementing benefits changes.

4. Handles benefit inquiries and complaints to ensure a quick, equitable, courteous resolution. Maintains contact with medical providers, benefits providers, third party administrators, employees, and beneficiaries to facilitate proper and complete utilization of benefits for all employees.

5. Enters benefits data in Colleague as needed and maintains accurate files related to employee benefits, retirement, and leaves.

6. Processes 1095C forms and Colleague benefits uploads.

7. Assists with the annual Employee & Student Wellness Fair.

8. Manages extended leaves including, but not limited to, ADA , FMLA , LWOP , Paid Parental Leave, Military, and Maternity/Paternity. Maintains knowledge of all applicable laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to protected leave, such as HIPAA , USERRA , ADA , FMLA , etc.

9. Maintains complete and accurate records of leave and accommodation requests in accordance with specified legal requirements and documentation best practices. Ensures that forms are collected, recorded, and properly filed on time and preserves confidentiality of employee medical documentation and files.

10. Determines employee leave eligibility and communicates with employees regarding their need for leave or accommodations.

11. Maintains reasonable communication with employees on leave in planning for a timely return-to-work; relays communication between employees and their managers during leave, within reason. Oversees the return-to-work process for employees returning from extended leave.

12. Works closely with the Leave & Workers Compensation Specialist to ensure extended and intermittent leaves are tracked and recorded properly.

13. Serves as a backup for the Leave & Workers Compensation Specialist.

14. Contributes to the College Vision, Mission, Values, and RISE statement.

15. Supports workforce diversity in all its aspects.

Minimum Requirements (Applicant must meet all of the minimum requirements)

1. Associates degree
2. One year of full-time or equivalent benefits administration experience at an organization with at least 100 employees.
3. Experience analyzing data and preparing reports.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Bachelors degree.
2. Related experience in a NC community college or other public higher education institution.
3. Experience with the Ellucian Colleague system or other information system.
4. Proficiency in a foreign language such as Spanish, an East Slavic language, and/or American Sign Language.

Your total compensation goes beyond this maximum salary. Your A-B Tech benefits represent nearly 30% of your total compensation: 78,723 80,062

The total compensation for this position includes an 24.04 % employer contribution to a defined pension plan, contributions towards medical and dental policies and fully funded life insurance / accidental death & dismemberment policy.
