S&P Global Commodity Insights is seeking candidates for the Commodity Associate Program (CAP) who will be trained on how to gather and analyze pricing information for selected commodities in preparation for placement on a team as a commodity price reporter. We are hiring for two cohorts — January 2026 and June 2026. Location: Houston, TX (relocation not provided, Hybrid). Grade Level (for internal use): 09. The role offers exposure to Oil, Power, Natural Gas, LNG, Coal, Petrochemicals, Metals, Agriculture, Shipping and renewable energy markets.

The Team: Our team is global, and you are considered a specialist in the market(s) you will be working in. You will write insightful market commentaries that demonstrate Commodity Insights’ thought leadership across global commodity markets and help customers anticipate market-moving events. Associates will generate price assessments and content (market commentary and news pieces) that power our prices, and will gather data and market intelligence to support the assessment and reporting process.

Responsibilities

  • Assess markets: evaluate the value of a commodity or set of commodities in line with the methodology; communicate with market participants throughout the day; apply rigorous mathematics and Excel analysis.
  • Write high-quality market commentaries with a clear rationale behind price movements for subscribers.
  • Report news and analysis to help subscribers understand market issues, including supply/demand, government data, regulations, trader movement, price trends, geo-politics, and related topics.
  • Engage with the industry: identify and maintain market sources to ensure first-hand knowledge of developments and communication channels.
  • Gather data and conduct analysis on the price assessment and reporting process.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a degree by December 2025 or May 2026.
  • Degrees in Journalism, Communication, Economics preferred; candidates from all majors welcome.
  • Previous experience or strong interest in commodity markets is desirable.
  • Proficiency in English required; knowledge of Spanish/Portuguese is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; strong numerical and statistical aptitude; understanding of economic principles.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Office suite.
  • Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
