This position supports principal investigators (PIs) with post-award administration of sponsored projects while contributing to the broader objectives of the MU POST initiative. Works closely with PIs throughout the full award cycle, offering guidance on budgeting, reporting, hiring, purchasing, subawards and project closeout. In addition to direct support, the role focuses on identifying systemic barriers, documenting processes, and driving long-term improvements in research administration. Will also lead or contribute to assigned projects, assist in the development and finalization of campus-wide training materials, facilitate training, and support the creation of best practice documents to strengthen post-award services across the institution.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Provide post-award support and guidance to assigned Principal Investigators (PIs), guiding them through budgeting (including financial reconciliation and modification), hiring, purchasing, subawards, and award closeout processes, in the context of sponsor guidelines, university policies and federal regulations.
2. Support MU POST projects, including developing process documentation, and implementing improvements to research administration systems and workflows.
3. Assist in creating, refining, and delivering training resources and standardized tools that promote consistency and efficiency in post-award administration across the campus community.
4. Assist PIs by maintaining and monitoring awards through the creation and updating of detailed spreadsheets to track award requirements, deadlines, complexities, and necessary actions.
5. Identify and address barriers, compliance issues and upcoming due dates, and facilitate timely resolution.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Bachelor's degree
A minimum of one year of related experience.
Excellent organization and communication skills.
Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Must be familiar with project administration and or grant management.
Must be willing to learn financial accounting and budgeting related to grants
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Project administration/management experience.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite or comparable applications.
