Role

Alterations Specialists are responsible for completing all fittings and alterations to the high standards of David’s Bridal and report to the Store Manager. They exemplify friendly, knowledgeable, and technical expertise while providing superior customer service. Alterations Specialists are members of the store team and demonstrate the value and qualities of the David’s Bridal brand.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome all customers with genuine, friendly enthusiasm over the phone, via virtual chats, and in person; communicate clearly and concisely, adapting style to suit customers by problem solving, using excellent phone skills and resolving conflict.
  • Use all systems to manage the customer flow to deliver a five-star customer experience.
  • Maintain service levels by being Prepared, Welcoming, Meeting needs, and Being There for all customers; complete operational checklist tasks and meet customers’ emotional and practical needs.
  • Provide an exceptional service experience to multiple customers at one time and contribute to the store’s Five-Star Customer Service achievement.
  • Proactively address customer concerns with confidence; know when to escalate and partner with the leadership team.
  • Communicate how alterations can enhance the dress for the event in partnership with Alterations; promote all alteration services and personalization options.
  • Assist stylists in closing sales by consulting with customers regarding gown fit and customization.
  • Maintain store standards to support a flawless shopping experience and a high standard of dress per Dress Code Policy.
  • Greet and escort alterations customers to and from appointments.
  • Maintain quality control; inspect garments altered/steam/pressed to verify pristine condition before final delivery.
  • Respond promptly to customer questions with product and service information.
  • Build long-term relationships with customers to meet and exceed satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Maintain inventory management by processing special orders, pick-ups, and ensuring first-quality standards for all merchandise.
  • Ensure alteration pricing meets company standards.
  • Manage alterations, fittings, sewing, steaming, pressing, and spot cleaning to company standards.
  • Resolve customer service issues swiftly and in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Support cash wrap behaviors and process transactions accurately to make every customer feel celebrated.
  • Keep alterations room clean and organized.
  • Perform duties as assigned by store management.

Physical Demands

  • Stand, walk, and sit for extended periods; reach for tools and objects; climb stairs; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; bend, twist and stand; move throughout the store; talk and hear customers.
  • Manual dexterity for POS use, counting money, steaming garments, using computers and phones; sewing and fittings as needed.
  • Lift up to 10 pounds; visual requirements for reading and computer use for long periods.

Education & Credentials

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of retail experience in apparel or specialty store
  • Prior sewing experience required, preferably in bridal and/or special occasion production
  • Experience with computerized POS is a plus
