Supervises social workers responsible for high-risk families, and/or individuals.

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS

This is a supervisory position that requires assigning and reviewing work/case records of the social workers being supervised. Work includes developing work plans, enforcing work standards for the positions within the control of this position. This position also requires interviewing, selection, developing performance appraisals, and training of new staff members, addressing disciplinary issues and handling employee grievances.

Examples of Duties

DUTIES

Oversight of Adult Protective Services (APS) and/or Guardianship programs

Provided direct supervision to social workers handling APS and/or guardianship cases Conduct regular staffing meetings and case consultations to ensure quality services delivery Assist in the screening and oversight of APS reports and/or the guardianship intake process Oversee the ongoing management of guardianship cases, ensuring the wards' needs are met and rights are protected Audit case records for compliance with state and federal regulations Coordinate with attorneys, courts, and law enforcement regarding APS petitions and guardianship cases Monitor performance measures, including response times, evaluative outcomes, and guardianship reports Assist in budget planning and resource allocation for APS and guardianship programs Train, coach, and mentor staff in applying federal, state, and agency policies, and best practices Monitor staff workloads and assign cases appropriately Participate in multidisciplinary teams addressing adult safety, capacity, and guardianship issues Provide education and outreach on APS and guardianship to stakeholders and the public Provide after-hours consultation and coverage when required Supervise office specialist providing clerical support of the team Participate, collaborate, and represent the department on community teams Typical Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience

MSW from an accredited school of social work and two years professional social work or counseling experience

BSW from an accredited school of social work and four years of professional social work or counseling experience

Master's degree in a counseling field and three years professional social work or counseling experience

Four-year degree in a human service field or related curriculum and five years professional social work or counseling experience

Four-year college or university and six years professional experience in a related human service field providing experience in the techniques of casework, group work or community organization.

A motor vehicle record (MVR), background & credit check, and drug screening will be conducted on candidates considered for positions.

Supplemental Information Residency Requirement Candidate must reside within a two-hour driving radius of Guilford County to be considered for employment.

Physical Demands

An employee in this position must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of fingering, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. The employee must be able to perform sedentary work exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently and/or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

Working Conditions

Work consists of office environment. No adverse environmental conditions.

May Require Driving This position may require driving for this position whether driving a County owned or personal vehicle to conduct county business such as but not limited to attending conferences, meetings, or any other county related functions. Motor Vehicle Reports may be verified for valid driver's license and that the driving record is compatible with the county's driving criteria. If a personal vehicle is operated for county business proper insurance is maintained as per Guilford County's vehicle use policy. Special Note
