Overview

Job description for welding operations including routine hand-welding and robotic welding on standard and near-standard assemblies. Tasks include prep, deburring, grinding, fitting components, and finishing as required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine hand-welding or robotic welding on standard and near-standard assemblies; deburr, grind, and fit components prior to welding; grind and polish finished elements as required.
  • Position parts prior to welding; deliver materials to workstations and ensure correct parts and documentation reach the next process in a timely fashion.
  • Prepare components by wiping, degreasing, deburring, or grinding as needed; collect and dispose of scrap appropriately.
  • Operate welding and fabrication equipment as directed, including spot welders, arc welders, plasma TIG welders, MIG welders, cutting torches, grinders, sanders, hand tools, bandsaws, drills, and fixturing devices.
  • Inspect parts using drawings/blueprints or other manufacturing information; maintain accurate piece counts and report quality problems to supervision.
  • Maintain and adjust equipment (electrode dressing, lubrication, machine settings, tooling changes) and complete maintenance check sheets; inform supervision or maintenance personnel of issues.
  • Maintain clean and orderly work area, including proper floor cleanliness and storage of materials.
  • Observe all health, safety, and hygiene policies; follow job-specific and facility-wide safety procedures; raise safety concerns when observed and participate in safety program improvements.
  • Develop and follow safe working procedures; identify and correct hazards; participate in health and safety training.
  • Support a 5S workplace and maintain safety equipment in good working order.

Health, Safety, and Compliance

  • Keep other employees aware of health and safety practices and participate in health and safety activities.
  • Identify regulatory compliance requirements relevant to the work area and implement them.

Qualifications

  • Experienced/demonstrated proficiency in welding techniques, shop blueprint/drawing comprehension, and shop math skills.
  • High school diploma or GED (or equivalent).
