Overview
The Student Leadership & Impact Center (SLIC) serves as a dynamic hub for student engagement, leadership development, and experiential learning through service and civic action. SLIC offers a unified approach to co-curricular involvement, community impact and leadership programming at Boston University. Reporting to the Director of SLIC, the Program Administrator is responsible for the operational oversight of the Center's physical space, the coordination of core administrative functions, and the delivery of logistical support for events and programs. This role includes supervision of student staff, providing logistical support for events, and coordination of day-to-day administrative functions, as well as supervision of the student-led yearbook and oversight of digital marketing (websites and social media), ensuring content is accurate and aligned with the university's student engagement mission. The Program Administrator helps ensure the Center is welcoming, inclusive, and functional, and that its communications and programming support student leadership, service, and involvement across BU campuses. Responsibilities
Center Operations & Student Supervision: Manage the physical space of the SLIC office, space reservations, inventory, work orders, and general upkeep. Develop and implement training for undergraduate student staff on front desk operations, visitor engagement, tours, and internal protocols. Supervise a student team responsible for greeting visitors, managing phones and email inquiries, supporting events, and maintaining office presence. Website & Yearbook Oversight: Maintain and regularly update the websites for SLIC and SAO, coordinate with university communications as needed. Provide content management, ensure accessibility compliance, and update event, leadership, and program information. Supervise and support the production of the yearbook, including timeline planning, student supervision, and coordination with external vendors or design teams. Event Coordination & Support: Co-facilitate events with SLIC professional staff. Manage logistics including catering, space reservations, supplies, and event setup. Support student organization events, signature SLIC programs, and campus-wide student leadership workshops. Finance & Student Payroll Administration: Reconcile monthly expenses using SAP. Process purchasing transactions, invoices, and reimbursements through Concur. Hire student employees via the Student Employment Office system, approve hours weekly, and ensure payroll runs efficiently. Student Group Support: Assist professional staff with event reviews. Review and work with student groups on larger-scale programs (international travel, minors, etc.). Administrative Support: Manage SLIC listservs and update contact information as needed. Collect and analyze post-event surveys, track attendance, and disseminate event materials. Prepare reports for the Director on engagement and feedback. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required. 1-2 years relevant experience in a university, student affairs, nonprofit or community engagement setting. Strong organizational and project coordination skills, with attention to detail. Experience working with college students or young adults in leadership, advisory or peer capacity. Comfort with basic website platforms and digital communications tools. Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to creating inclusive and welcoming spaces. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
