Fort Worth STEAM Academy is launching a tuition-free public charter middle school in East Fort Worth, opening August 2026. Our mission is to prepare every student for success in high school, college, and career through a rigorous STEAM-focused education, a joyful culture of high expectations, and strong community partnerships. Summary The Dean of Culture leads student culture and experience—schoolwide routines (arrival, transitions, lunch, dismissal), MTSS Tier 2/3 behavior and attendance (Multi-Tiered System of Supports), family partnership and communication, clubs and athletics, and re-entry conferences—to ensure a safe, structured, joyful environment where teaching and learning thrive. You partner with the Dean of Instruction (DOI) to protect instructional time through proactive classroom management, targeted data use, and a concise weekly culture dashboard.

Compensation:
70K-75K
Anticipated Start Date:
This role will begin as a part-time contracted position (approximately 4–6 hours per week, evenings and/or weekends) in January 2026 to support planning and preparation. The position will transition to a full-time role in June 2026, aligning with the close of the prior school year. This structure is designed to allow candidates currently working in schools to finish out their commitments while gradually engaging with Fort Worth STEAM Academy's launch. ****

Key Responsibilities
Culture Systems & Student Experience
— Goals: ≥93% ADA; ≥90% persistence
Implement daily routines (arrival, hallway transitions, lunch, dismissal) with clear expectations and staff roles.
Run incentive systems aligned to FWSA values; serve as first responder for disciplinary incidents and escalate per handbook.
Launch and manage clubs, athletics, and the student events calendar; lead re-entry conferences after suspensions.
MTSS—Behavior & Attendance
— Goals: ≥93% ADA; ≥90% persistence
Participate in MTSS meetings; write and monitor individualized behavior and attendance plans with progress checks.
Coordinate home visits with the Social Worker (SW); partner with the Dean of Operations (DOO) for daily ADA system execution and with the PEIMS Coordinator (Public Education Information Management System) for accurate coding/reporting.
Family Partnership & Communication
— Goals: ≥4/5 family/student surveys; ≥90% persistence
Lead monthly family culture events; ensure 100% of families are enrolled in our school communication platform and that it is regularly used by staff.
Run biannual family & student surveys and share results.
24-hour response time to family inquiries on school days.
Safeguard Instructional Time
— Goal: TEA B or higher
Conduct weekly culture rounds with the leadership team; coordinate classroom-management PD/coaching to minimize time lost to referrals.
Analyze discipline and attendance trends by grade, teacher, and subgroup; target supports accordingly.
Publish a concise weekly culture dashboard to the CEO/DOI.
Enrollment, Onboarding & Retention Support
— Goals: 145+ enrolled by week 2; ≥90% persistence
Provide strong culture presence at recruitment/orientation events; lead orientation and first-month welcome routines.
Implement a new-student buddy program; execute within-week no-show and withdrawal-prevention calls.
Partner with Dean of Operations/Front Office on first-month attendance and persistence checks to ensure a smooth start for all students
Minimum & Preferred Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree;
3–5+ years
leading student culture/discipline or comparable youth-serving operations.
Demonstrated success building schoolwide routines, running Tier 2/3 supports, and improving attendance/persistence.
Skilled communicator with families and students; calm under pressure; coaching mindset.
Data-savvy (Google Sheets/Excel); able to build simple dashboards and trackers.
Commitment to FWSA's mission: a safe, structured, joyful school with rigorous STEAM learning for all.
Preferred Qualifications
Texas public charter experience; DeansList (or similar) platform; CPI/Nonviolent Crisis Intervention.
Experience coordinating clubs/athletics or student activities.
Bilingual Spanish.
Certifications/Licensure
Required:
DPS fingerprint clearance per
Texas Education Code §22.0835 .
Preferred/Role-based:
CPR/First Aid; CPI or equivalent de-escalation certification.
