Summary Objective

The purpose of this position is to implement evidence-based strategies for violence prevention in priority service areas. This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences. Examples of Duties ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary. • Organizes and participates in the planning of projects and programs, maintains and disseminates information to those involved. • Works directly with community stakeholders to develop community-based violence prevention strategies utilizing a community health development model. • Builds and maintains relations with internal and external stakeholders. • Represents OVP in assigned neighborhoods as a community liaison for violence prevention efforts. • Ensures development and implementation of community violence prevention frameworks. • Communicates with agency stakeholder groups about assigned departmental initiatives and other relevant project topics. • Coordinates activities and provides technical assistance to assigned neighborhoods to ensure successful implementation of community-based violence intervention strategies. • Coordinates and attends community events, activities, and meetings for assigned neighborhoods. • Works with community members, community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, local businesses, and other Metro departments to build out community violence prevention frameworks. • Performs related work as assigned. Minimum Requirements MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Social Science, Public Health or related discipline. • One (1) year of public health, violence prevention, social work or related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement. • Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
