The Coordinator, Inclusion and Belonging, LGBTQ+ has primary responsibility for designing and delivering campus programming intended to enhance student's personal growth, expand their community-building skills, foster greater institutional engagement, and broaden their understanding of peers who hold differing life experiences, identities, and perspectives. This position provides expert guidance in developing and implementing student engagement initiatives, ensuring that all programmatic offerings are informed by student development theory and best practices in belonging, peer mentoring, campus climate, and social justice education. This role requires the ability to analyze student needs, implement responsive programming, manage budgets, and supervise student employees. The Coordinator, Inclusion and Belonging, LGBTQ+ is expected to undertake all responsibilities in a manner that reflects the Catholic, Jesuit mission of the university.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Student Engagement and Programming:

Independently design, implement and assess programming that increases students' awareness of their own social identities, with a special focus on issues impacting the LGBTQ+ community. Educate the campus community about the richness of the student experience and encourage student involvement in the Marquette and Milwaukee communities. Develop and coordinate peer mentorship and support initiatives that contribute to student retention and success. Facilitate the development of students' personal leadership skills and understanding of Ignatian values that are grounded in social justice education. Lead workshops, group discussions, and dialogues that promote understanding and collaboration between and among Marquette's various student communities. Assess and report outcomes (learning, operational and programmatic) and utilize data to identify the impact on student learning and growth as well as inform continuous improvement. Develop and maintain resources and support mechanisms for students to enhance belonging and retention among all Marquette students.

2. Student Retention, Support and Advocacy:

Maintain an inclusive, welcoming and safe environment for the LGBTQ+ Resource Center, ensuring it is a welcoming hub for all students. Address the needs of students, both academic and personal, through advocacy, counseling, and referrals to resources on- and off-campus. Identify and remove barriers that impede student belonging or academic success. Remain current on research and high impact practices related to higher education, inclusion, belonging, social justice and Jesuit education.

3. Supervision and Advising:

Responsible for the supervision of student employees which includes but is not limited to hiring, training, disciplinary actions, ending the student's assignment, etc. Lead student peer interns ensuring alignment with divisional priorities. Provide ongoing mentorship and performance evaluation for student staff, fostering their leadership growth. Oversee peer mentoring initiatives and coordinate work assignments with professional staff. Serve as the primary coordinator for selected evening and weekend programming.

4. Campus Outreach and Partnerships:

Assist the office in maintaining a strong presence and holistic student support in the Lemonis Center for Student Success. Partner with other staff to develop and implement programs that introduce students to Marquette's inclusive community. Develop and maintain partnerships with faculty, staff, and campus offices to expand student belonging initiatives. Represent the office and the LGBTQ+ Resource Center in campus-wide committees and working groups focused on student engagement, retention, and campus climate. Partner with community organizations to provide students with external engagement opportunities that reinforce institutional belonging.

5. Fiscal Responsibility:

Oversee program budgets, including financial planning, forecasting, and budgetary decision-making. Collaborate with your supervisor and the director to align programming with funding priorities and opportunities.

6. Contributions to the Division of Belonging and Student Affairs:

Serve as a university conduct administrator as needed and support conflict resolution efforts. Participate in Division of Belonging and Student Affairs committees, activities and programs.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Bachelor's degree in personnel administration, higher education administration or related field

A minimum of 2 years of experience in the administration of college student programs required.

Relevant graduate assistantship will meet qualification

Candidates should possess strong oral and written communication skills, and commitment to, knowledge of and experience with leadership training and effective student programming

Direct experience working with college students of diverse perspectives, life experiences, and backgrounds.

Strong understanding of the challenges faced by college students socially and academically

Strong appreciation for the diverse needs of all members of the campus student community.

Willingness to actively support the mission and tradition of a Catholic, Jesuit university

Provide on-site supervision for selected evening and weekend events

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Master's degree in personnel administration, higher education administration or related field

Proficient in HTML or web CMS platform

Experience with student engagement platforms (e.g. Presence) or web CMS platforms

Experience managing budgets and financials resources in a student affairs setting

Experience with Qualtrics survey software

Spanish language proficiency
