Travel Job Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for 12-hour night shifts requiring WA or compact licensure and strong critical care skills.
Responsibilities Work in a 20-bed ICU/CCU unit in an acute hospital setting Primary patient population includes CHF, respiratory distress, ACS, A-fib RVR, post-cath, and some surgical cases such as vascular and abdominal Patient ratios are typically 2:1 in ICU and 4-5:1 on telemetry at night Experience with drips such as diltiazem, amiodarone, Lasix, nitro, and heparin is required Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing system, and Phillips monitors Floating may be required to telemetry and med-surg units with travelers as first to float Scheduled for 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and holiday rotation No on-call requirements Unit support includes charge nurse, CNA, phlebotomy, respiratory therapy, telemetry tech, and hospitalist coverage Unit orientation includes general hospital onboarding and two shifts on the unit RNs responsible for reviewing and charting telemetry strips Scrubs may be any professional color Free employee parking available Approval for up to 7 days of time off can be arranged in advance
Requirements Active WA or compact RN license required Current ACLS and BLS certifications required Minimum of 2 years ICU experience required Must have completed at least one prior travel assignment (first-time travelers not accepted) Experience caring for listed critical care patient populations Proficiency with chest tubes, wound vacs, dressing changes, and monitoring femoral arterial sheaths Familiarity with Epic EMR preferred Documented references from supervisory-level staff required prior to start
