Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN with WA or compact licensure and strong clinical experience for a 46-bed surgical unit.
Responsibilities Work in a hospital Med/Surg unit with 46 beds Patient population includes ESRD, dialysis, COPD exacerbation, GI bleed, pneumonia, COVID, UTI, CHF, altered mental status, ETOH, SBO, osteomyelitis, post-op, and end of life care Patient ratios are 1:4-5 on day shift and 1:5-6 on night shift 12-hour day shifts with every other weekend required Float as needed to other Med/Surg units Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell for medication dispensing No on-call responsibilities Holiday coverage required as needed Comprehensive unit support includes CNA coverage, receptionist/HUC on day shift, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team (until 2300), hospitalist, and telemetry monitoring techs Charge nurse is without patient assignment on days and with partial assignment on nights EPIC training included in hospital orientation along with 1-2 preceptor-led shifts Assigned scrubs in any color are acceptable Free employee parking available Requests for time off must be communicated directly to nurse manager First-time travelers will be considered
Requirements Active WA or compact RN license required BLS certification required Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg RN experience required; first-time travelers accepted with at least 2 years of experience Proficiency with G-tubes, trach care, chest tubes, and central lines Familiarity with EPIC EMR preferred
