Logistics Coordinator
The Fort Myers Beach Fire Control District is an Independent Special District located on the Southwest Florida Coast. The District is a diverse and unique beachside community experiencing tremendous growth and known for being a premier vacation destination. The District serves approximately 6,000 full-time residents, part-time residents, and over 40,000 seasonal and international tourists. The District operates from three fire stations and one administrative office, providing a variety of services, including fire suppression activities, Emergency Medical Advanced Life Support (ALS) on all apparatus, ambulance transport, technical rescue, hazardous materials incident response, and a variety of other emergency and non-emergency services. The Logistics Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting the operational readiness of the District by managing and maintaining essential equipment, apparatus, facilities, and supplies. This position requires a mechanically inclined individual with strong reasoning skills, practical problem-solving abilities, and a background in either vehicle mechanics or building construction, or both. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional common sense, adaptability, and a proactive approach to logistical challenges in a high-stakes environment. The ideal candidate for Logistics Coordinator will possess the following: Experience:
Minimum 3 years of experience in logistics, facilities maintenance, vehicle maintenance, or a mechanically-focused role. Experience as a facility engineer/manager, and/or skilled craftsperson in building trades, or similar position. Experience in supply chain management. Working knowledge of supply and inventory control systems. Education:
Associate's Degree or higher in building construction, or business-related field is preferred. Technical training or certification in mechanics, construction, or a related field may be considered in place of an Associate's Degree. High school diploma or equivalent. Certificates and Licenses:
Must possess and maintain, or be eligible to obtain within 30 days of appointment, a valid Florida Commercial Driver's License. Florida Licensed Building Contractor or higher preferred. Florida Licensed Mechanical, Electrical, or Plumbing Contractor preferred. Facilities Manager Certifications preferred. A combination of education, training, and experience, which provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, may be considered in qualifying a candidate.
