The City of Spokane Solid Waste Disposal Department is looking for temp-seasonal workers to be a part of our winning team, contributing to the success of our city. Performs daily operation at the Waste To Energy Scale House that may include but are not limited to: Assist permanent employees. Use a computer program to weigh in private and commercial customers dumping various types of material. Collect various types of payments. Balance cash drawer. Answer questions for the public and other City employees in person and on the phone. The following responsibilities and requirements are functions the individual who holds or desires the position must be able to perform unaided or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation: Assist permanent employees. Use a computer program to weigh in private and commercial customers dumping various types of material. Collect various types of payments. Balance cash drawer. Answer questions for the public and other City employees in person and on the phone. Variable hour shifts: Staffing from 7:15 am to 5:45 p.m. Sites open 7 days per week. Department requirements: Must be dependable. Must be able to work well with others. Must have above average communication and customer service skills. Must have cash handling/cashiering experience. Must have basic computer skills. Must be willing to work weekends. Must have reliable transportation (reliable public transportation not available to the site). This role is considered a safety-sensitive position for which impairment while working presents a substantial risk of death. You must successfully complete a selection process that includes interviews, a criminal background check, a pre-employment drug screen, reference verifications, aptitude tests (for some positions) and a physical and lift test (for some positions).
