Overview
WSP is seeking a Managing Director, Project Development to join our Advisory and Planning department. About Us: WSPs Advisory & Planning business line is dedicated to providing top-tier consulting services to help clients deliver complex projects. The Project Development team provides strategic guidance and technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle, including advising on best practices, methodologies, and processes to achieve project goals while ensuring compliance with regulations and standards, including civil rights regulations. The team develops and maintains governance frameworks to manage risks and facilitate accountable decision-making. Your Impact Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Managing Director to lead our team of management consultants specializing in due diligence, procurement strategy, energy and social infrastructure alternative delivery, water alternative delivery, third party and project governance, civil rights advisory, and demand modeling and forecasting. The successful candidate will lead the delivery of high-quality consulting services, drive strategic initiatives, ensure client satisfaction, and meet key performance indicators for the profit and loss (P&L) unit. Responsibilities
Leadership and Team Management: Lead and mentor a diverse team of consultants, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment, providing professional development opportunities, and aligning the team with the organizations goals. Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor throughout the project development lifecycle. Project Oversight: Oversee the implementation of consulting projects across domains, monitor progress, address issues, and ensure adherence to best practices. Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans for the practice, identify new business opportunities, and stay abreast of industry trends. Innovation and Improvement: Drive continuous improvement and leverage specialized knowledge to solve complex problems. P&L Management: Manage the P&L for the consulting practice, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting to ensure profitability and sustainability. Consulting Services Provided by the Project Development Team
Due Diligence: Conduct investor advisory due diligence, independent engineering reviews, and performance reviews. Procurement Strategy: Advise on procurement processes to select teams for alternative delivery projects. Third Party and Project Governance: Develop governance frameworks to align partners, facilitate accountable decision-making, and manage risks. Energy and Social Infrastructure Alternative Delivery: Provide guidance on delivering energy and social infrastructure projects using alternative methods. Water Alternative Delivery: Oversee water projects delivered by alternative methods with technical guidance throughout the lifecycle. Civil Rights Services: Ensure compliance with civil rights regulations and promote equity and inclusion. Demand Modeling and Forecasting: Develop demand models and forecasts to support planning and decision-making. Minimum Requirements
Bachelors Degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Urban or Transportation Planning, Data Sciences, Environmental Studies, Liberal Arts, Public Policy, Operations Research, Engineering, or closely related discipline. Graduate degree in a relevant field (J.D., M.B.A., Ph.D.). Advanced proficiency and proven experience in due diligence, procurement strategy, alternative delivery methods, and/or civil rights. 15+ years of relevant post-education experience in the discipline, with leadership, management consulting, or client advisory experience. Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships. Strategic thinker capable of developing and implementing effective plans. Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to WSP’s health, safety, and harassment policies. Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements. Preferred Qualifications: Supervisory/management experience on major infrastructure projects; knowledge and application of P3 and other alternative project delivery methods. Compensation and Benefits
WSP Benefits and Compensation: Expected Salary (all locations): $290,100-$325,350. WSP USA provides a compensation range that may be paid in good faith, based on qualifications and location. The company reserves the right to adjust pay within the range and offer additional benefits. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, retirement savings, paid time off, parental leave, and additional leave provisions. Colorado-specific: Expected Salary (Colorado only): $290,100-$325,350. The same note applies regarding compensation ranges and geographic considerations. About WSP
