Poughkeepsie Farm Project (PFP) is a farm-based non-profit organization committed to cultivating a just and sustainable food system in the Mid-Hudson Valley. On our member-supported farm in the City of Poughkeepsie, we grow fresh vegetables and fruit for our CSA, train future farmers, provide hands-on educational programs, and improve access to healthy locally-grown food. Our mission is to cultivate local leadership in sustainable farming, food access, and education, and foster an inclusive, welcoming community for everyone. Position Overview

The Director of Grants & Finance is responsible for advancing PFP’s financial sustainability, equity, and mission alignment. This role provides strategic financial leadership to guide organizational decision-making, develops systems to ensure transparency and accountability, and supports staff in managing program resources. The Director of Finance will collaborate closely with Co-Directors, Board members, and program leaders to integrate financial strategy with PFP’s long-term vision of environmental, social, and economic resilience. They will act as primary steward of PFP’s administrative and financial operations, including grant program financial reporting and compliance and grants claims processes. They will lead the development of strong systems and practices for organizational and program budget development, as well as timely and accurate financial reporting for both earned and contributed income. Position category: Full-time, salaried (40 hours/week) Location: Poughkeepsie, NY (hybrid work possible) Supervisor: Co-Executive Director Team (peer review with Board of Directors and Board Finance Committee) Supervisees: Office Manager and Grants Manager (part-time consultant), as well as external Accountants Circle Stewardship: Administration & Finance Circle; Grants Circle Circle Participation: General Circle, People & Culture, Directors Circle and other cross-team spaces as needed Key Responsibilities

Financial Strategy and Leadership Develop and steward a long-term financial strategy that integrates mission, environmental impact, and community benefit. Lead the organization-wide budgeting process (annual and multi-year), aligning resources with strategic priorities. Provide timely, transparent financial reports and recommendations to the Director Team and Board Finance Committee. Guide organizational investment decisions to balance fiscal health with social and environmental impact. Support the development of revenue diversification strategies, including grants, earned income, and partnerships. Financial Operations and Compliance Oversee accounting, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, and financial controls in collaboration with the Office Manager and CPA consultant. Lead the annual audit, liaising with external auditors and accountants to ensure compliance, including preparation and filing of the annual financial statements, tax form 990, CHAR 500, NYS VendRep, NY Statewide Financial System prequalification Ensure compliance with nonprofit regulations, audit requirements, and government/foundation grant guidelines. Maintain accurate systems for grant fund tracking, reporting, and claims processes in collaboration with program leads. Manage vendor and banking relationships, ensuring ethical and sustainable business practices. Capacity Building and Shared Leadership Train and mentor staff to understand and manage budgets, empowering team members to make informed resource decisions. Lead the Administration & Finance Circle to foster collaboration, problem-solving, and continuous improvement. Collaborate with other Co-Directors to integrate racial equity and social justice principles into financial and operational policies. Participate in organization-wide leadership conversations about strategy, shared governance, and culture. Qualifications

3+ years of nonprofit financial management or related experience, including grant and compliance oversight. Proficiency in QuickBooks (Desktop/Online), Excel/Google Sheets, and willingness to learn grants portals and other platforms. Demonstrated ability to translate financial information for non-financial audiences. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing priorities. Strong ability to self-supervise and self-organize. Commitment to sustainability, equity, and inclusive leadership practices. Experience fostering collaboration in diverse, multicultural environments. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, collaborator, and a wizard at multitasking. Preferred (but not required): Advanced degree in Business, Public Administration, Sustainable Management, or equivalent experience. Experience applying sustainability frameworks (triple bottom line, ESG, impact measurement) in nonprofit or mission-driven settings. Interest in food systems, agriculture, or community-based environmental work. Compensation and Benefits
