Position Managing Director, Finance and Accounting Practice — SFBJ 40 under 40 winner | Strategic Partner for Finance & Accounting Searches
Key Responsibilities
IPO Readiness & Public Company Transition: Serve as principal accounting officer responsible for all technical accounting, external reporting, and audit functions
Lead the preparation and execution of the company’s S-1 registration and help navigate SEC reviews and comment letters
Establish and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures consistent with SOX requirements
Own all aspects of SEC reporting (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, S-1, S-3, etc.)
Oversee the full accounting cycle including GL, AR/AP, consolidations, and revenue recognition
Implement scalable close processes to support monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting cadence
Upgrade systems and processes—potentially overseeing an ERP implementation or optimization
Support future capital markets activity including follow-on offerings, investor communications, and potential M&A
Ensure proper margin accounting, costing, and profitability analysis as the company scales
Requirements
12+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience, with public company exposure
Strong IPO experience (S-1 or de-SPAC), ideally having led or co-led the process
Deep technical accounting expertise (US GAAP, SEC reporting, SOX, revenue recognition, equity accounting)
CPA required; public accounting foundation (Big 4 preferred) strongly desired
