Overview
Postdoctoral Fellow - Neuroscience & Regenerative Medicine at Augusta University. This NIH-funded position focuses on studying disease mechanisms at molecular, cellular, and system levels to identify novel therapeutic strategies for Alzheimer’s disease and psychological disorders. The laboratory emphasizes translational neuroscience, synaptic signaling, and neuropharmacology, using model systems such as CRISPR gene editing, single-cell RNA-Seq, organoids, patient-derived iPSCs, and humanized mouse models. Responsibilities
Experiments: Analyze results, develop or adapt computational analysis as needed, and perform qualitative and quantitative analyses. Provide training and participate in bacteriological, chemical, radio-chemical qualitative and quantitative analyses, histology, and cell culture procedures. Project Planning & Protocols: Contribute to project planning and development of research protocols; ensure adherence to scientific principles and compliance with relevant federal guidelines. Scientific Literature & Meetings: Review and synthesize scientific literature; summarize findings; present results at local, national, and international meetings. Publications: Prepare articles for submission to scientific journals; review articles by others. General Duties: Supervise and coordinate activities of students, graduate assistants, and other research personnel; advise investigators and team members on techniques and procedures. Technical: Calibrate, troubleshoot, repair, and operate microscopy and other analytical equipment; train others in equipment use. Other: Perform related duties as assigned. Qualifications
Required:
Ph.D. degree from an accredited college or university. Preferred Qualifications
Preferred:
Ph.D. or M.D. in biomedical science or equivalent degree from an accredited college or university. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases; willingness to learn. Skills & Abilities
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication; detail-oriented with strong prioritization and organizational skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality; meet deadlines; willingness and ability to work with research animals; ability to work independently with limited supervision. Shift, Salary & Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (work outside normal hours may be required). Salary: Commensurate with qualifications within the established range (minimum to midpoint).
