Position Summary Director of People & Culture to lead all aspects of HR strategy and execution. This is a key leadership role reporting directly to the SVP & General Manager and serving as a core member of the Leadership Team, with responsibility for shaping company culture, optimizing our talent, and supporting organizational growth. This leader will oversee the HR Generalist and People Operations Specialist, own all core HR functions, and drive a people-first, performance-driven culture across our growing business.
Key Responsibilities
People Strategy & Leadership: Serve as a strategic partner to executive leadership on organizational design, workforce planning, and people-related decision-making. Present people updates and initiatives to the Leadership Team and Board of Directors. Lead and mentor the People Team (HR Generalist, People Operations Specialist, and recruitment support).
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning: Lead recruitment strategy, including in-house processes and third-party recruiter oversight. Identify critical hiring needs and build proactive talent pipelines. Continuously optimize hiring practices to reduce cost and time-to-fill.
Culture, Engagement & Employee Experience: Champion company culture and drive engagement across distributed teams. Lead employee engagement programs and NPS surveys using Leapsome. Activate Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEIB) initiatives that resonate across teams.
Performance Management & Development: Oversee OKR-aligned performance reviews, feedback processes, and growth planning. Drive professional development and career pathing initiatives. Support HHS (Humble, Hungry, Smart) peer feedback cycles and learning moments.
Compensation, Benefits & Compliance: Own compensation strategy, market benchmarking, and merit processes. Manage all benefit offerings, vendor relationships, and annual renewals. Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
Systems & HR Operations: Manage HR tools and workflows across ADP, Leapsome, Functionly, and related systems. Maintain and enhance HR analytics, dashboards, and reporting structures. Nice to have: experience managing Payroll.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a senior HR leader in a scaling, high-performance organization (100–300 employees).
Strong track record of building and leading people teams in hybrid or multi-location environments.
Deep understanding of California labor law, compensation, engagement, and performance systems.
Highly assertive, strategic builder who also thrives in team development and culture nurturing.
Skilled communicator, coach, and influencer across all levels of an organization.
Bachelor’s degree required; HR certifications (PHR, SHRM-SCP, etc.) a plus.
Location & Compensation Location:
Long Beach, CA (Hybrid – 3 days/week on-site)
Base pay range:
$140,000.00/yr - $150,000.00/yr
Reports to:
SVP + General Manager (with direct partnership to the President)
