Clayton Services is recruiting for a Director of Electrical Engineering in Houston to lead electrical technology initiatives and cross-functional execution. Responsibilities
Lead the full lifecycle of electrical system development, from design through manufacturing, testing, and validation. This includes heating elements, power control units, instrumentation, and distribution infrastructure. Engage directly with clients and end users to collect feedback, drive system improvements, and tailor solutions to real-world requirements. Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering teams—mechanical, software, and field support—to ensure cohesive system integration. Provide both strategic direction and technical oversight, ensuring all electrical designs comply with relevant safety codes, standards, and regulations. Spearhead the qualification and rollout of new electric heating technologies in demanding operational conditions. Manage high-stakes testing and root cause analysis, especially under extreme environmental variables. Mentor and support junior engineering staff, fostering a culture focused on performance, innovation, and technical excellence. Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends to maintain the organization's competitive advantage in the energy technology landscape. Serve as the primary technical contact for client engineering teams and subject matter experts, aligning deliverables with project and operational goals. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
10+ years of experience working with medium voltage electrical systems, with 5+ years in a technical leadership or managerial role. Proven background in designing and delivering complex electrical systems for industrial or energy-focused applications. Strong familiarity with U.S. and international electrical codes, industry safety protocols, and certification standards. Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD) and project documentation. Track record of driving innovation and successful execution in technically demanding environments. Ability to communicate complex engineering concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Comfortable working in dynamic, fast-paced environments, especially in early-stage or high-growth companies. Strong leadership skills with a collaborative, mentoring approach to team development. Cultural sensitivity and effective interpersonal skills in international project settings. Demonstrated success managing cross-functional engineering teams across different regions. Education and Experience
