Project Rebound assists students to prepare, apply, enroll, and graduate with a degree from Sacramento State. Project Rebound provides educational resources and services for students looking to develop professional skills. We work to transform those who were formerly incarcerated into scholars through counseling, mentoring, academic resources, and career development. The Project Rebound Director is responsible for maintaining and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Project Rebound program, including but not limited to: Programmatic oversight Staff supervision Budget planning and approval of all expenditures Coordinating resources and programs under Project Rebound (including student housing) Facilitating enrollment of formerly incarcerated students who qualify for the program based on university and program criteria Assessing each student’s academic needs and familiarizing them with CSU Sacramento services to aid matriculation Serving as liaison between Project Rebound and campus departments (Admissions and Outreach, Academic Advising, Career Center, Departments across disciplines, Colleges, University Enterprises, Associated Students, Student Affairs, and other departments that support Project Rebound) The Director also coordinates relationships with campus units and external partners to promote student success and program goals. Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral or Social Science, Education, Social Work, Criminal Justice, or related field One (1) to five (5) years of experience with incarcerated populations Knowledge and Abilities: Thorough knowledge of program policies and procedures; general knowledge of public administration, including organizational, personnel and fiscal management; knowledge of advanced statistical and research methods Ability to carry out complex assignments with limited instructions; advise students individually or in groups; reason logically and solve organizational problems; coordinate actions to implement decisions; analyze data and project consequences of actions; establish effective working relationships Experience: Equivalent to four years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience including advising students and resolving complex student services problems A master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work or related field may substitute for one year of experience; a doctorate may substitute for two years in positions with major responsibility for counseling Education: Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field plus upper-division or graduate coursework in counseling techniques, interviewing and conflict resolution where job-related RequiredQualifications Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral or Social Science, Education, Social Work, Criminal Justice, or related field 1 to 5 years of experience with incarcerated populations Basic Knowledge of: The CSU Sacramento campus and campus support programs The criminal justice system and reentry concepts The CSU system and issues impacting Project Rebound students’ access to education Record maintenance Ability to: Demonstrate sensitivity and make fair, respectful decisions Establish and maintain effective working relationships Handle conflict resolution, problem solving, counseling, and facilitation Exhibit excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills Work with basic computer software Commit to a welcoming and inclusive work environment Condition of Employment Ability to pass a background check; lived experience of incarceration and/or involvement with the legal system is not necessarily disqualifying Preferred Qualifications
