Overview
Introduction to role:
Join our Enterprise Data Office (EDO) as the Head of Information Architecture, R&D, Enterprise Information Architecture (EIA). This leadership role will support the development and structure of data frameworks, solutions and applications that are designed, and developed for specifically R&D, but also across the AstraZeneca Enterprise. This includes defining, bringing to bear and extending standard AstraZeneca reference architectures, data models and design patterns. Our R&D focused EIA team partners with various R&D functions to deliver strategic value, including collaboration with the R&D IT team(s) and business partners across Enterprise Architecture, Data Office(s) and IGNITE & EDO teams focused on R&D.

Responsibilities
Lead a team of Information Architects focused on delivering Information Architecture across R&D.
Define FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) data strategies for the R&D organization and connect with a Data Mesh strategy.
Collaborate closely with R&D Data Governance teams to embed Information Architecture and Data Management into ways of working.
Contribute to the definition and governance of enterprise Master and Reference Data Management architectures, ensuring R&D requirements are embedded into Enterprise strategies for master data.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Data Management or related field.
Experience in the Pharmaceutical industry and at least one R&D lifecycle/function.
Significant experience in framing and delivering enterprise data platform/master data management architectures and practical application.
Experience in framing, designing and delivering information and data strategies in a commercial or complex business environment.
Experience in defining and working with information and data regulatory governances.
Blend of data/information architecture, analysis, and engineering skills.
Experience planning, leading, collaborating and delivering as part of a technical/architectural delivery team.
Significant experience in people management, coaching, and career development of high-performing teams.
Experience with industry IT architectural patterns and methodologies (e.g., FAIR data principles, Data Mesh).
Experience in Agile data definition scrums.
Understanding of Data Platforms concepts and cloud-based containerization for hybrid environments.
Understanding appropriate data structures and technology based on business use cases and familiarity with data lifecycles.
Experience in data modeling tools/technologies.
Desirable Skills
Post-graduate degree in MIS, Data Management or equivalent domain.
IT architectural methods and methodology insights and experience.
Experience designing end-to-end and point data architectures for substantial real-world use cases.
Experience with Information and Data Governance frameworks and their application in a commercial organisation.

Compensation and Benefits The annual base pay for this position ranges from $178,705 to $268,058. Base pay may vary based on location, knowledge, skills, and experience. Eligibility for short-term incentive bonuses and equity-based long-term incentive programs is available. Benefits include a qualified retirement plan (401(k)), paid vacation and holidays, paid leaves, and health benefits (medical, prescription drug, dental, vision) as per plan terms. Details will be provided if an offer is extended. This is an at-will position, with Company rights to modify pay or compensation programs at any time.
