Open Rank Professor of Philosophy The Department of Philosophy at Stanford University seeks applicants for an appointment that may be at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure-track), Associate Professor (with tenure), or Full Professor. Applicants must have demonstrated a commitment to effective teaching and mentoring and the ability to maintain a world-class research program. The successful candidate must have a PhD in a related field by the time of employment and will be expected to teach and advise students at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. The term of appointment is expected to begin on September 1, 2026. All areas in philosophy will be considered. The successful candidate will be expected to lead robust research and graduate training programs for the department. Responsibilities

Associate and Full Professor applicants: indicate two most important papers or one most important book. Provide the names of three references who will be contacted as described: references for non-tenured applicants will be contacted upon submission; references for currently tenured applicants may be contacted at a later stage. Salary ranges for academic year 2025-2026: Assistant Professor: $111,240 - $130,810; Associate Professor: $124,630 - $154,500; Professor: $144,200 - $247,200. Stanford provides a pay range as a good faith estimate; final offers depend on qualifications, budget, and equity. Additional Information
