This nonprofit organization is seeking a Staff Accountant to manage financial operations, ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, and support grant management and donor-restricted funds. The role emphasizes accurate financial reporting, audits support, and collaboration with program and development teams to allocate expenses and report on grants and donations. Responsibilities
Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation. Assist in month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting. Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoice processing, payment tracking, and donor contributions. Track and report on restricted and unrestricted funds, ensuring compliance with donor restrictions and grant requirements. Assist with the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis. Collaborate with program and development teams to ensure proper expense allocation and financial reporting for grants and donations. Support annual audits and assist in preparing audit schedules and documentation. Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local nonprofit regulations, including Form 990 preparation and reporting. Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial operations. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 2-4 years of accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit organization. Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting standards, including GAAP and fund accounting. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or similar) and Microsoft Excel. Experience with grant management and donor-restricted funds is preferred. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Strong communication and collaboration abilities, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Benefits
