This position works with and oversees a technical team(s) who implement complex technological solutions and maintain operational availability. The incumbent and team are responsible for work that involves the planning and delivery of customer support services, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting of networks and information technology (IT) systems, customer assistance, and/or training, in response to customer requirements. This Lead Information Technology Specialist position starts at a salary of $105,383.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $137,000.00 (GS-13, Step 10). GS Salary: view locality pay tables by geographic area. Location-based and special pay rate charts may apply. In this role, you will become a key team member of Homeland Security professionals providing support and guidance on IT systems and services. Typical work assignments include: Communicating assignments, projects, actionable events and program issues under review with time-frames for completion Providing technical guidance to and coaching a team in problem solving methods and techniques Identifying, distributing and balancing workload among employees Monitoring and reporting on the status and progress of work Diagnosing and resolving difficult customer-reported incidents and trends to improve operational capability Locations: Long Beach, CA; Los Angeles, CA; Carson, CA; San Francisco, CA; Portland, OR. BASIC REQUIREMENT: IT-related experience demonstrating four competencies: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving. You must also possess one year of specialized experience at the GS-12 level or equivalent to qualify for GS-13, as described below: Supporting IT systems by developing new methods, approaches and procedures Diagnosing and resolving problems from customer-reported incidents across platforms and configurations Planning, designing, developing and integrating network systems Installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining hardware/software Resume must explicitly demonstrate these requirements. Experience may include paid or unpaid (volunteer) work. Include Time in Grade information for current federal employees. Residency and pre-employment checks are detailed in the announcement.
