position. This role may be filled remotely or at any firm location. Summary : The director drives revenue growth, enhances brand awareness through key initiatives, and leads the Business Development and Proposals Teams across the US. The position partners with senior leadership to develop and implement short- and long-term business development strategies across the firm’s industry and practice groups. Essential responsibilities : Lead development, execution and review of strategies for related practices and lawyers. Drive revenue initiatives including client targeting, market research, RFP responses, and client relationship reviews. Collaborate with communications, brand, and awards teams to build visibility and brand awareness. Provide direction, KPIs and metrics for key client initiatives; build and lead a nationwide marketing and business development team. Establish and maintain relationships with firm leaders, practice group leaders, managing directors and stakeholders. Collaborate across teams to elevate matter collection and improve knowledge management for client-facing materials. Support cross-functional projects to improve efficiency, collaboration and visibility within the department and firm. Identify and pursue cross-selling opportunities and support the implementation of key initiatives. Develop strategies to expand client relationships and generate new business. Standardize messaging and best practices through ongoing staff development and training. Share best practices across industry and practice groups to maximize productivity. Coach and develop team members, mentoring and training as needed; guide performance standards and monitoring. Identify best practices and establish long-range objectives and actions to achieve them. Position requirements : 4-year degree in marketing, communications or related field required; Master’s degree preferred; industry certifications preferred. 15+ years of progressive marketing and business development experience; substantial leadership experience in multi-office professional services environment. Strong business development skills: prioritization, planning, organization, delegation, negotiation; ability to manage budgets and analyze ROI. Ability to motivate attorneys to engage in business development and to execute plans. Experience delivering high-level client service to diverse audiences; excellent written and verbal communication; ability to produce proposals and client-facing materials. Forward-thinking with the ability to deliver solutions to complex challenges; high degree of professionalism with sophisticated clients. Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with business development and marketing technology and tools. Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, collaboration, and leadership skills; ability to manage a large, geographically dispersed team. Ability to manage confidential information with discretion; independent and team-oriented work style; change-management capability. Ability to stay current on legal market trends and innovations.
