Specialty Doctor in Community Adult Mental Health
The closing date is 21 October 2025 This is a new post which has been created following additionalservice reconfiguration. The post is in the Community Mental Healthteam, (CMHT) based at Huntington House, York. The post is a 6 PA post. It isexpected that the speciality doctor will be working alongside a ConsultantPsychiatrist, Dr Elisa Ambrosi, who also works 8 PAs into this part of theservice. The Central CMHT provides expert secondary mentalhealth care to adults over the age of 18 who live in the central part of Yorkand surrounding area. This part of York also serves the university populations.The locality has recently moved from GP allocated services to post codeallocated services and there are further plans to align our services with thePrimary Care Home model. The other parts of the city are covered by the NorthCMHT based in York at Huntington House; the west team based at Acomb Garth inYork and the South Team, based at Worsley Court in Selby. Our colleagues in theolder persons CMHTs provide care for older adults (typically over 70, althoughthe age boundary is flexible depending on need). The team is multi-disciplinary,utilising the expertise of doctors, nurses, occupational therapists,psychologists, social workers and support workers. There is access to thedietetics team, physical health team and pharmacy. Main duties of the job
This is a new post providing senior medicalleadership to the Central CMHT service in York. The post-holder will not hold acase load but be expected to work to a clinical leadership model ofconsultation. The post holder will provide senior medical care/supervisionin the assessment, diagnosis, care planning and delivery of pharmacological andpsychosocial interventions, for patients referred to Central CMHT. The team provides a holistic, developmentalbio-psychosocial approach to managingpatients aged 18-64 and the post holder will work jointly with colleagues fromother disciplines and all relevant agencies to provide a comprehensive approachto patient care and treatment. The post-holder will participate in mental healthassessments of patients on the caseload including the taking full psychiatrichistories, review of previous clinical records, doing mental stateexaminations, risk assessments, making diagnoses (if appropriate) andformulating management plans. They should alsohave a good understanding of the use of the Mental Health and Mental CapacityAct and be approved under Section 12 or able to achieve with 6 months ofappointment. If not Section 12 approved there will be support from the Trust toattain Section 12 approval. In the interim any section 12 work will beundertaken by the team consultant Dr Ambrosi and the covering consultantpsychiatrist. About us

Able to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training. Evidence of achievement in education, research, audit and service improvement: awards, prizes, presentations and publications. MB BS or equivalent medical qualification. Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment. At least 4 years postgraduate experience, including at least 2 years in a core psychiatry training programme in UK or abroad Approved under S12 of MHA OR able to achieve within 6 months of appointment. MRCPsych or equivalent postgraduate qualification. Clinical Knowledge & Skills
Good knowledge of psychiatry. Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge. Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty. Research, Audit & Quality Improvement
