Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of analytical practices, policies and procedures; researches, analyzes and develops solutions to a wide range of issues. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Primarily deals with policies, programs and proposals which are complex in nature and diverse in scope. Develops new programs, policies or procedures for possible implementation. Under general direction of the Executive Director of the Labor Center, the Research Manager will oversee the organization's research programs as well as provide on-site research guidance and management to Labor Center-related field sites which will span a diverse range of regions to support the Labor Center's research activities with partners across the San Diego and Imperial Counties. In addition to developing, managing, and implementing the Labor Center's research initiatives, the Research Manager will collaborate with the Executive Director to enhance research, policy analysis, and grant development in support of unions and community organizations. Participates in strategic planning of research programs with principal and field/site collaborators. Moreover, the Research Manager will be instrumental in nurturing the development of up-and-coming researchers from diverse backgrounds and expanding the research capabilities of collaborating organizations. Responsibilities

Master’s degree or higher (or an equivalent foreign degree) in social science, humanities, public administration, public policy, urban planning, labor studies, or related fields Minimum of two years of experience in quantitative and/or qualitative research with increasing levels of responsibility Knowledge of common organization- or research-specific and other computer application programs Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; experience working with diverse populations Strong skills in analyzing, researching and synthesizing large amounts of data for preparing sound and relevant proposals/analyses; proven ability to write reports, correspondence, and spreadsheets; experience with reporting software Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes; ability to work in a busy environment Strong policy analysis techniques; experience with program evaluation Proficient in maintaining thorough files and confidential records; proven ability to coordinate and run focus groups Proven ability to manage and facilitate students and/or interns Willingness to travel and work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends Employment details

Pay range: $71,600.00 - $99,500.00 per year. Annual Full Pay Range: $71,600 - $127,400 (prorated if appointment percentage is less than 100%). Hourly equivalent: $34.29 - $61.02.
