Education Debt Reduction Program , a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply. Duties Performs and records history and physical examinations and records data from clinic visits. Evaluates, consults, develops diagnosis, and manages the primary care panel of patients assigned. Enters progress notes in computerized medical record and completes workload documentation in a timely manner. Provides medical care encompassing acute and chronic medical conditions and all appropriate preventive care for both male and female veterans. Orders diagnostic tests, medications, laboratory tests as medically relevant for each patient. Provides timely follow-up on results and patient inquiries, including and not limited to completion of view alerts, secure messages and other patient communications. Determines medical assessment and develops treatment plans according to accepted protocols. Prescribes medications according to approved formulary, and in accordance with Federal and State Law. Educates patients concerning medical conditions and recommended treatments (topics include nutritional counseling, smoking cessation, periodic immunizations and health screening tests, and management of acute and chronic diseases). Consults other specialties as appropriate, according to service agreements. Care of female patients may be required as part of ongoing duties, including potential designation as a Women’s Health provider. VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases. Paid Time Off: 50-55 days/year (26 days annual leave, 13 days sick leave, 11 federal holidays, possible 5 days CME). Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% VA contributions. Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care. CME: Possible $1,000/year reimbursement (full-time with board certification). Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage. Contract: No physician employment contract and no significant moonlighting restrictions. Work Schedule:
8:00 AM – 4:30 PM Monday–Friday (subject to change based on agency needs). Requirements U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited, per VA policy. All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis prior to appointment. Refusal to test will result in denial of employment. Selective Service Registration required for males born after 12/31/1959. Proficient in written and spoken English. You may be required to serve a probationary period. Subject to background/security investigation. Online onboarding process required; acceptable forms of identification per I-9 rules; REAL ID-compliant IDs required after May 7, 2025. Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from an appropriately accredited school. Licensure:
Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in any US state/territory/DC. Residency:
Completion of residency in an approved core specialty training program (ACGME or AOA) or equivalent; for academic faculty status, board certification may be required. Other residencies with five years of verified practice in the US may be deemed acceptable by the local Medical Staff Executive Committee.
