U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs . Location: Saint Louis VA Health Care System. The position includes responsibilities in outpatient primary care and opportunities to engage in population health management and quality improvement projects. Duties

Primary Care of a panel of primary care patients (male and female). Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnostic work-up, and clinic intervention, including health history, physical examination, and patient education to Veterans in the Primary Care team setting. Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to coordinate and deliver patient care and services. Discriminate between normal and abnormal findings, establish diagnoses, and respond to emergency health problems as appropriate. Initiate referrals and consultations to other clinical services; order and evaluate diagnostic tests; recommend treatment or referral. Document health appraisal information, assessments, plan of care, and therapeutic outcomes in CPRS on the day of the encounter. Respond to alerts indicating diagnostic test abnormalities and health line requests on the day of receipt. Follow Performance Measure guidelines and maintain access, timeliness, and formulary standards. Collaborate with patients, families, and the multi-disciplinary team; maintain a respectful, ethical, and customer-service oriented practice. Provide coverage for colleagues and respond to patient concerns within the primary care team when needed. Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP)

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan repayment program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply. Requirements

U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment; refusal to test will be denied employment. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. Must be proficient in written and spoken English. Possible probationary period and subject to background/security investigation. Must pass pre-employment physical examination and complete online onboarding; acceptable identification is required (REAL ID compliant if applicable). Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all VA Health Care Personnel. Qualifications

Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship (non-citizens may be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited, per VA policy). Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from a school approved by VA for the year completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in any U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia. Residency training approved by the VA in an accredited core specialty program leading to board certification eligibility. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Residency notes: VA physicians in academic training may be required to be board certified for faculty status. Other eligible residencies may be considered under VA policy. Work Schedule
