RN Clinical (Infusion) - Newport Beach-HemOnc TC - Full Time 8 Hour Days (Non-Exempt) (Non-Union) at Keck Medicine of USC. As an integral part of the interdisciplinary team, the Infusion Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing process to provide therapeutic care to patients. The RN is accountable for the coordination of patient care and education to the patient and family in accordance with standards, policies, and practices in a compassionate, supportive, and therapeutic environment. The Infusion RN provides therapeutic care to patients in the outpatient setting with emphasis on administering chemotherapy, biotherapy, and blood products. This role may float to various locations for coverage and learning the workflows of different locations. Responsibilities

Follows policies and procedures; accesses online manuals and references as needed. Transfers learned scientific knowledge into practical application of the nursing process. ASSESSMENT: Completes nursing assessment and screening upon patient arrival for therapy. DIAGNOSIS: Interprets assessment information and formulates nursing diagnosis. PLAN: Maintains problem list, medication list, and allergies list. INTERVENTION: Administers medications, including chemotherapy and biotherapy, safely and efficiently following policy. Delegates tasks based on scope of practice and competency. Acts as patient advocate for effective management of side effects. DOCUMENTATION: Ensures complete and accurate documentation on all forms; conducts assessment and screening at each appointment; ensures consents for invasive procedures and blood products are signed; double-checks and documents medications fully and accurately. EDUCATION: Provides patient and family education as needed based on treatment plan or condition changes. EQUIPMENT: Maintains and monitors infusion pumps, BP devices, continuous patient monitoring; manages alarms; identifies and reports defective equipment. COMMUNICATION: Communicates effectively with the healthcare team, patients, and families; triages phone calls; uses SBAR and appropriate reporting. ORGANIZATION: Manages time effectively and prioritizes responsibilities; compliant with breaks and scheduling expectations. REGULATORY COMPLIANCE: Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals, patient identifiers, medication reconciliation, time-out procedures, HIPAA, OSHA, JCAHO readiness and related requirements. QUALITY MEASURES: Participates in data collection and process improvements. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Participates in professional activities, committees, workshops; may assist in patient education material development; maintains professional certifications as applicable. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications

Required Qualifications BSN required upon hire. Minimum 2 years RN experience in a related healthcare setting. Excellent communication skills in English (speaking, reading, writing). Knowledge of medical procedures and conditions; ability to perform duties including whole blood collection and apheresis procedures in accordance with policies and procedures. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Nursing or related field preferred; Master’s in Nursing may be in lieu of BSN. Oncology focus experience strongly preferred. Experience administering chemotherapy and/or other types of infusions preferred. Required Licenses/Certifications Registered Nurse - RN (CA Board of Registered Nursing). Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association. ONS Chemotherapy & Biotherapy certification; if not certified upon hire, must obtain within 90 days. Fire Life Safety Training (LA City); must obtain within 30 days of hire and maintain by renewal (LA City only). Specialty Certification in oncology preferred. Hourly rate range: $53.00 – $87.45. USC considers factors such as scope and responsibilities, candidate experience, education, skills, and market factors when extending offers.
