This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit their EDRP application within four months of appointment. To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or licensing may be referred and tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met the requirements at initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements. Basic Requirements: U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited, in accordance with VA Policy. Doctor of medicine or equivalent degree from an approved school. Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S. Completion of residency training approved by the VA, leading to eligibility for board certification. Residency must be approved by ACGME, AOA, or equivalent non-US programs with at least five years of practice in the U.S. Residents in ACGME/AOA accredited programs are eligible as 'Physician Resident Providers' (PRPs), who must be fully licensed and may be appointed on an intermittent or fee basis. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Board Certification/Board Eligibility in Infectious Disease. Physical requirements include heavy lifting, carrying, straight pulling, pushing, reaching above shoulder, use of fingers, walking, standing, bending, and visual and auditory abilities. Duties
