Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent plus 10 years of professional experience, including 3 years of supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional Engineer (PE), Registered Architect (RA), Registered Landscape Architect (RLA), Professional Project Manager (PMP), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or Certified Educational Facilities Professional (CEFP).
Position Summary
The Director of Maintenance Project Management (MPM) reports to the Senior Director of Operations and Infrastructure in the Facilities Management Division. The Director of MPM is responsible for the overall managerial oversight of the Construction Project Management Office (CPMO), comprising two Senior Project Managers, 12 Project Managers, Manager of Budget & Capital Expenses, 2 Contract Professionals, and an Administrative Specialist. This position leads the development, strategy, assignment, execution, and administration of campus maintenance construction projects in all phases of project management. The position manages the annual Major Repair and Renovation (MRR) program cycle and related sustainability and utility management efforts. Typical projects include renovations, repair, maintenance, and customer-funded requests. Duties include supervision of all FMD contracting actions and oversight of contracting personnel. This leader sets the strategic direction for the department, ensures team performance, and develops metrics to evaluate and manage performance. The Director of MPM will drive best practices, client service, and timely adaptation to emerging trends to support the mission. The role requires technical expertise in building systems and construction project management and strong leadership of a large organization. Work is performed under general policies and procedures with significant initiative and creativity required. The incumbent has substantial experience in team leadership, facilities maintenance, and construction project management.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies Licensed Professional Engineer, Registered Architect or Landscape Architect , with ability to be registered in Georgia within 6 months of hire.
CEFP and/or LEED Accredited Professional, Certified Construction Management Professional, or similar.
In-depth knowledge of construction principles and practices, project management, and maintenance.
Extensive knowledge of modern building maintenance, alteration, project management, and operations.
Strong mentorship and leadership record.
Experience in facilities operations management, planning, work management, training, and organizational control.
Ability to plan and supervise technical and professional subordinates.
Clear written and oral communication skills.
Ability to interpret complex instructions and construction documents.
Ability to establish working relations with faculty, staff, and administrative personnel.
Ability to respond to university emergencies 24/7/365.
Knowledge of business continuity, incident command systems, and emergency response and recovery.
Ability to think and act decisively under duress with safety as a priority.
Prepare budgets and monitor fund disbursement.
Analytical thinking for complex issues.
Proficiency with standard office software for facilities management systems.
Physical Demands Sit at a computer for up to 8 hours a day.
Traverse active construction sites; climb ladders and work from heights with PPE.
Drive to perform job duties.

Maintain awareness of latest methods, products, and systems to maximize efficiency and safety.
Represent the department in monthly stakeholder meetings with senior leadership and other university offices.
Responsible for human resources and fiscal management of the Maintenance Project Management Department, including annual budget development and coordination with FMD Human Resources for hiring and evaluation.
Plan, schedule, and budget Major Repair and Renovation (MRR) projects; set team priorities and maintain master project schedules and long-term capital plans.
Develop and implement work standards and training for staff development and quality assurance.
