The North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System's Surgical Care Service is seeking an experienced and dynamic Neurosurgeon Chief. Ideal applicants are those who want to contribute to the achievement of quality care standards as well as the growth and development of a VA academic hospital program. Candidates should be excellent communicators and team players who are adaptable to the needs of a growing medical center. Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Pending completion of training or license requirements, applicants may be tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met the initial qualification standards are deemed to have met the basic requirements. Basic Requirements: U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens may be appointed if qualified citizens are unavailable) Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent from an approved medical school Current unrestricted medical license in the U.S. Completed residency in Neurological Surgery approved by VA, leading to eligibility for board certification Board certification in Neurological Surgery Proficiency in spoken and written English Additional: Adjunct faculty position at the University of Florida is expected Preferred Experience: Clinical and operative Neurosurgery Physical requirements include passing a VA pre-employment physical, moderate lifting, and physical stamina for clinical duties Duties
This is an open continuous announcement until the position is filled, with applications accepted on an ongoing basis. The role includes supervision of the NF/SGVHS Surgical Care Service at two medical centers, advisory responsibilities, clinical and operative duties, teaching, and research opportunities. The Chief of Neurosurgery will also participate in call duties, supervision of staff, and may work various shifts as needed.
